Greetings families of Portland! My name is Bridgid McGrath, and I have been working with children since the age of 16, when I first volunteered at a local kindergarten. I was born and raised in Berkeley, CA, where my parents and sister’s family, including four nieces and nephews, still live.
I received a BA in psychology from the Evergreen State College in 2007; finished my Montessori primary credential in June of 2015, and was awarded a Masters of Arts in
Montessori Early Childhood Education from St. Mary’s College of California in 2016.
My thesis project included creating a curriculum for social/emotional learning that is now online for free. I continue to attend to my own professional development, focusing on psychology, social justice and environmentalism.
I also offer training in parent education, peer coaching, and equitable educational development. I offer professional organizing a la Marie Kondo, and spent a 2 year career sabbatical training my own service dog, studying dog training, and engaging in other entrepreneurial passions. Outside of the classroom, I love to garden, hike, do yoga, salsa dance, and occasionally spin fire poi.
